The School of Bioprocesses is an event that takes place within the scopo of SINAFERM-SHEB-ENZITEC 2022. It’s scheduled to take place online from the 22nd to the 26th of August.
The objective this event is to transmit knowledge and experience with professionals in the area of bioprocesses from companies, research institutions, educational institutions to an audience composed of undergraduate students to professionals looking for improvement.
This event is a 100% virtual and will feature the participation of researchers from companies such as INFORS, WATERS, NOVOZYMES, INTELLIGEN, PROTIMIZA, STAR-UPS BIOSOUL and BIOBEADS and renowned institutions such as INPI, CETEM, FIOCRUZ and UFRJ.

Course 1 – From Invention to Protection: Technological Prospecting, Industrial Property and Patents
Title: From Invention to Protection: Technological Prospecting, Industrial Property and Patents
Speaker: Dr. Sérgio Bernardo (Industrial Property Researcher – INPI/Brazil)

Course program: Present an approach about different means of protecting intellectual property assets, with a focus on industrial property (more precisely on invention patents). Through a simple and objective construction, the trajectory covered by an invention will be traced, from its conception to the filing of the patent application, presenting the legal and technical aspects that govern the patent system in Brazil. Concepts such as the state of the art, the economic role of patents, matters excluded from patent protection in Brazil, the Brazilian patent system, how to write a patent document and technological prospecting in patent databases will be addressed through examples of patents in the areas of cosmetics, food and biotechnology, in order to establish the concepts presented in the course.

Course Program: To present to professionals working in research, development and production, a scientific methodology, alternative to the trial and error method, providing greater reliability in the interpretation and discussion of results. This statistical tool provides greater reliability in the interpretation and discussion of results, and has been considered effective and indispensable, both for the development of processes and products and for the improvement of existing ones. Special emphasis is given to the proper use of this statistical tool respecting the characteristics of the processes.
- Chap. 1, 2 and 3: How statistics can be a fundamental ally in the development and/or improvement of products and processes. Introduction to factorial design. Analysis of effects, determination of mathematical models and interpretation of results in the light of statistics and process. Case study.
